La Ralentie

Composed for soprano, percussion, video and electronics, this 50 minutes show is based on La Ralentie, text by the poet Henri Michaux. On the edge of esotericism, this text explores the idea of frontiers between the inside and the outside, intimacy and emptiness. Divided into two spaces by large panels of perforated paper, on which strange forms are shaped by the light, the stage becomes the place where two contrasting characters express themselves, watch and are searching for each other : soprano, who intertwines her speech and singing to thrust the listener into a dreamlike atmosphere; percussionist, who makes every gesture the result of a powerful and irrepressible inner life.

Passage

Passage is a sound corridor dedicated to the world of memories. The installation is a 10 meters long tunnel that offers the visitor a sound and light environment with which he can interact. Up until now, seven versions of Passage have been realized on themes as varied as : intimacy, ecology, time, the city of Wroclaw, Pierre Boulez, the rugby team of Clermont, the village of La Romieu, etc. For each version, the composer has drawn on the intimate memories of people who were more or less directly related to each of these subjects : inhabitants, employees, specialists, supporters, musicologists, historians, etc. The anecdotes collected were then re-composed in the studio in the form of short sound sequences. Each crossing in the tunnel is unique and triggers the reading of one of these sequences - about fifty readings for each person passing - which evolves according to the attitude and the movements of the visitor.

Ghostland, Territory of Shadows

" Memories, our ghosts, encounter turmoil of drums, forming with it a unique sound material. A high level cathartic show " (concertclassic.com)

" Virtuosity of the percussion quartet is astonishing " (ResMusica)

" A genre-breaking, striking work, in which percussionists are much more than simple music performer and which reveals different aspects of itself each time it is performed " (concertclassic.com)

Immersive and spellbinding, Pierre Jodlowski’s latest creation plunges us into an area of indefinite boundaries. Composed for electronics and four percussionists from the famous Percussions de Strasbourg, the score also includes the play of lights and writing of the stage space.
Extended by a large panoramic screen, the stage changes into an infinite space, a territory where shadows seem to come and play with the bodies.
