ByPass - Forum de la Création Musicale #5

Concerts, conferences, workshops, master classes in Toulouse and Blagnac with the composer François Bayle.

An Éole production, in collaboration with Odyssud-Blagnac, the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Toulouse (CRR), the Institut Supérieur des Arts de Toulouse (isdaT), the Théâtre Garonne and the Ina-GRM. With the support of the City of Toulouse, the Departmental Council of the Haute Garonne and Spedidam.

Since its first edition in 2015, the ByPass Forum has sought to forge a special relationship between composers, their performers and the public, drawing on the vital forces of music education institutions and artistic distribution. In addition to these dimensions, to which educational time and artistic time itself are very deeply linked, in 2017 the residency in Toulouse and Blagnac of an ensemble, a soloist or a musical personality of international renown will be added. After having been the setting for a residency in 2017 of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne de Montréal under the direction of Lorraine Vaillancourt, and then that of pianist Wilhem Latchoumia in 2018, ByPass offers this year its spaces to composer François Bayle for a week built around an exceptional event: La Nuit Acousmatique à Odyssud on Monday, November 4, 2019.
.

At the controls of the Ina-GRM's acousmonium, a veritable orchestra of loudspeakers, François Bayle, one of the last great witnesses and actors of the musical revolutions of the 20th century, will introduce us to two major frescoes from his immense repertoire. The first: "Divine comedy", in a version choreographed by the Toulouse choreographer Pierre Rigal with 18 dancers from Isdat, the second: "Projet Ouïr", a world premiere.

We will meet François Bayle at the CRR of Toulouse on Wednesday November 6th for a day of master-class, conference, meeting. He will be listening to and commenting on the works of the students of the composition department of the Conservatoire, then will reveal the main lines of his creative itinerary.

On the strength of the success of his two ByPass 2018 concerts, we wanted to associate pianist Wilhem Latchoumia again with this edition, with a recital at the Théâtre Garonne on Wednesday, November 6. Between world premieres and repertoire, between solo piano and piano with electronics, an invigorating portrait of today's piano music.

Finally, the concert Toulouse en créations, presented at the Petit-Théâtre Saint-Éxupère in Blagnac on Friday, November 8, and entirely devoted to four world premieres and a French creation by five young composers and their performers from the Toulouse CRR will bear witness to the extraordinary dynamic of invention and renewal that we owe to the young musical generation.

  • ACOUSMATIC NIGHT%%

Odyssud-Blagnac
Monday, November 4, 2019

A musical and choreographic immersion in Dante's Divine Comedy, associated with the " Ouïr " Project, a visionary creation by François Bayle, pioneer of the electroacoustic adventure and inventor of acousmonium.

A leading figure and founder of electroacoustic music alongside Pierre Henry and Pierre Schaeffer, François Bayle has composed more than a hundred works. In this one, "Divine Comedy" after Dante, based on readings by actor Michel Hermon, François Bayle weaves in 1972 an immense electroacoustic fresco, an initiatory journey into the universe of sound and meaning. We will follow Virgil, but also Pierre Rigal and the young dancers of the isdaT, in the ascent of the mountain of purgatory.
In the second part, we will discover the apotheosis with which François Bayle leaves us an essential reflection on listening, always in the making: The "Ouïr" Project... The composer himself will be at the helm of the Acousmonium, the GRM's orchestra of spatialized loudspeakers, for an immersion in text, sound, light and gesture.

+ Introductory lecture by François Bayle
